Hotel accommodation

Please be aware that you are responsible for your own hotel reservation during congress days. Hotel accommodation in Utrecht is not plentiful. It is therefore advisable not to wait until the last moment to book a hotel, but to do so well in advance of the congress date. Various types of hotel accommodation are available.

There are 4 different possibilities for booking a room:
1: Online booking at 3, 4, 5 star hotels
2: Low budget accommodation at the University Campus
3: Middle class hotel outside the city of Utrecht
4: Other accommodation

1. Online booking at 3, 4, 5 star hotels

Hotel accommodation has been pre-booked by Efficient Hotel Partner (at rates that vary between € 80.00 and € 200.00 per night) for congress participants in various 3-4 star hotels and a 5 star hotel. Hotels in Amsterdam have been added for those who prefer to stay in that city. These hotels are closely located to public transport facilities. There are direct trains from Amsterdam to Utrecht on a regularly basis and the trip takes 25 minutes.

These hotel rooms can be booked online. Please reserve a room no later than 22 June 2009. Room bookings will be released for general sale after this date. Please remember that the cost of hotel accommodation is not included in the congress fee and will be handled by the relevant organisation.

2: Low budget accommodation at the University Campus

Secondly, there is the possibility of booking a room at the low-budget University of Utrecht accommodation. These are student dorms, vacated during the summer: they provide simple but adequate facilities for a very reasonable price.
Maps of University College are available upon request.

3: Middle class hotel outside the city of Utrecht

Located centrally in the green Utrecht Heuvelrug lies Hotel Kontakt der Kontinenten. Many years ago, Hotel Kontakt der Kontinenten consisted of two monasteries. They offer 100 rooms, provided with every comfort. All rooms fall in the category of three stars and have shower, toilet, television and telephone. The lounge is a 'hot spot', where you can use wireless Internet on your own laptop and send and receive e-mails. The lounge is open 24 hours a day.
Hotel Kontakt der Kontinenten lies in the centre of the Netherlands in Soesterberg (15 km from Utrecht). Every day a shuttle service is available to take you to the congress and back to the hotel in the afternoon.

The hostel is uniquely situated in a forest area on the banks of the Kromme Rijn, less than 5 km from the city of Utrecht.
It offers a comfortable night's rest in a splendid location, as well as tasty meals in the sunshine in the outdoor café.
Public transport: Stayokay Utrecht-Bunnik is a 3-km walk from Bunnik station. From Utrecht station you can take bus 40 or 41 in the direction of Wijk bij Duurstede and get off at the Rhijnauwen stop. The hostel is located 400 m from the stop. To plan the train trip we recommend to use www.ns.nl.

We would like to point out that you may be able to book the same or similar accommodation at lower rates directly at the hotel or via one of the internet booking sites, that is, if you do not mind spending some time searching for the best buy. However if you decide to give this a try, we advise that you do so in time: if you wait, prices will almost certainly go up.
